Hardwoods come from broad leaved, mostly deciduous trees with the dominant features separating them from softwoods being the presence of pores.
Hardwood ranges from the extremely hard such as Ebony to the soft and lightweight species such as Balsa.
The slower rate of growth contributes to a denser structure of hardwood, which generally means a more durable product when used in construction. Hardwoods are also typically more resistant to decay than softwoods when used in exterior work.
Our hardwood department at Five Oaks Normans is dedicated to supplying the most popular and sustainable species of hardwood for use in high quality joinery and construction.
Normans provide a fully comprehensive range of products and materials to the building industry in Jersey, with two locations, one at Commercial Buildings the other Five Oaks.
Normans is a people business. Our aim is to have motivated and friendly staff who take pride in their work and give our customers great customer service.
